Repentance is the Key - Revelations 2:5b

~Repent: metanoeo 'to change one's mind or purpose'
~This change of mind always involves a change for the
better - a turning from sin and a turning to God.

~5 of 7 churches were told to repent:
1. Ephesus> Forsaken their 1st love, and fell from a great
   height. (REV.2:4-5.)
2. Perganum> Allowed pagan practices in the church and
   tolerated false teaching. (REV.2:14-16)
3. Thyatira> "false teaching that led to sexual immorality
and eating food sacrificed to idols. (REV.2:20-23)
4. Sardis> Faith without deeds and disobedient to the
    Word.(REV.3:2-3)
5. Laodicea> Lukewarm and arrogant. (REV.3:16-19)

~2 Churches did not need to repent:
1. Smyrna: faithful despite poverty, persecution, and
    suffering (REV.2:8-10)
2. Philadelphia: good deeds, kept the word, upheld Christ,
   patient, obedient, persecuted (REV.3:8-10)

"Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest,
 and repent." (REV.3:19)
